Lianne La Havas

Lianne La Havas has been dubbed one of the 'artists to watch' of 2012 on Itunes, along with other new names like Michael Kiwanuka and The Staves, but i recently had the pleasure of seeing La Havas in the company of no more than 80 people at Edinburgh's University Student Union.

She spends a lot of time in LA, but has recently done a UK tour and put her name out there. After performing on Jools Holland in winter 2011 along with Bon Iver and Feist she recieved a phone call from her hero, Bon Iver, asking her to come along and support him on his North American tour in 2012. The video above is shot by myself at Edinburgh, La Havas performing my personal favourtite 'Gone' . She is charasmatic and truely mesmerizing on stage. Look out for her in 2012. Enjoy. Peaches.

Bon Iver announces UK tour dates.

with his self titled album on the way (21/06/11) I am over the moon that I finally get to see Bon Iver. I thought that I may have to travel to USA or Canada for this one. Leeds O2 in November will see a little group of us attending (a.k.a the dream team). Here is his latest track 'Calgary' from his forthcoming album 'Bon Iver'.

lia ices - grown unknown

'grown unknown' is the second released album by the beautiful new york based pianist, singer and songwriter lia ices. The pop songstress was born and raised in connecticut where she began playing the piano at the age of five. The album opens with 'love is won;' a dreamy piano ballad following on to an acoustic duet with bon iver's justin vernon entitled 'daphne' (listen to below) It could be said that she is a talent worthy of comparison to the xx, both having roots in studied composition. The album was released on 14th february 2011 and one i'l be listening to when the stress levels are high.

birdy - skinny love cover.

wow. i hate day time radio. but after listening to gill scott-herons album 3 times in a row on a journey this morning i needed a break. i put on radio 1 (with the hot but annoying fearne cotton) and was mesmerized by this. a cover of the amazing bon iver track 'skinny love' (posted in the past by myself as one of my all time favourite tracks). im all for this new folk movement. the fact this relatively unknown birdy is 14 years of age and can produce this defies belief.
