With my model travels pending I thought now was the time to add a more personal touch (and personality) to my tailored pieces. I have long admired the ankle-showing element to Men's tailoring since I first seen it last Autumn (images of the coolest Men in Pitti Uomo, Florence). However it has not felt right until now to make this progression with my look. Now, I feel both more able and confident to carry, such variations of tailoring, off; in terms of my age (maturing 25 years) and current bearded, manly look.
I walked in this morning, with exactly what I wanted in mind. My two favourite suits, one navy blue, the other a royal blue, both really nice cuts, but lacking that extra you get from the higher end/Saville row bespoke tailored designs (e.g. Thom Browne, Norton & Son's etc.). I mentioned Thom Browne, at which the shop owner whipped out her ipad with images of his tailoring designs. Wow, great, you'll do for me. I went for a highly shortened, more tapered option on the navy more casual suit, whilst less so but still along the same lines on my royal blue, smarter suit.
I await the results, and will update you. But very excited at the potential. If this pays off it just goes to show you, you don't need to spend big to replicate the very best designs in menswear. Don't get me wrong I would love to own a Thom Browne tailored piece, but for the time being this will do just fine.
