gil scott-heron is an american poet and soul singer, most famous or his work in the 70s and 80s. sampled throughout hip-hop for both his melodic tones and his political lyrics by the likes of common and kanye west. his latest album 'i'm new here' is a dark challenging album that oozes sadness and unrest, but simultaneously evokes hope. now scott-heron will be broadcast to a new audience as the album has be reworked by one of the most talented producers on the scene, jamie xx. this is definitely one to look out for.
